All Supra models come with an eight-speed automatic and are offered only with rear-wheel drive. The Supra goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and zeroes to 100 mph in only 9.5. Not just this, it is one of the reliable cars in terms of its fuel economy with 31 mpg on the highway, 24 mpg in the city, and 26 mpg combined. It is basically more efficient than cars like Cayman GTS, and the M2.
All three models have a ground clearance of 4.5 inches and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
The 3.0 model has standard pedals whereas the rest two models have sport pedals and heated seats.
CHOOSE WHAT SUITS YOU BEST
3.0, the least expensive model includes an electronic rear differential, adaptive dampers, 19-inch alloy wheels, smart-key fob with push-button start, heated power-folding mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming, active exhaust, rain-sensing wipers, 8.8-inch color LCD gauge cluster, dual automatic climate control, 6.5-inch touch-screen display, 10-speaker audio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and auto high beams.
The 2020 Toyota Supra’s electronic rear differential does a fantastic job getting power to the ground, most notably when punching the accelerator.
3.0 Premium brings an 8.8-inch wide-format touch screen, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, heated leather seats, wireless phone charging, a color head-up display, and a 12-speaker 500-watt JBL audio system. The top-end Launch Edition is limited to just 1,500 cars and comes in red, black or white with unique matte-black wheels.
Limited to just 1500 units, each GR Supra Launch Edition comes standard with red mirror caps, unique matte black wheels and an individually numbered interior carbon-fiber badge.
EXTERIOR
Inspired by the classic Toyota 2000 GT, the 2020 model features a double-bubble roof. The design allows for more headroom inside, while also allowing airflow. Its sculpted front end is inserted with superior headlights and LED rear taillights. With Supra comes standard, an automatic high beam feature. Also, a big thumbs-up goes to the raised decklid.
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE WITH THE GR
Supra’s engine delivers its power smoothly, while the 8-speed automatic makes quick work of gear changes in both automatic and manual mode.
The Supra lacks a manual transmission, but the paddle shifters allow the driver to change gears without removing one hand from the wheel, earning a point.
In the corners, the GR Supra’s big 19-inch wheels and electronic rear differential make certain the car remains planted, although when in Sport mode you can easily get the rear wheels to step out, which is always fun.
FEATURES AND INTERIOR
Much of the Toyota‘s interior is shared with the Z4, so those familiar with BMW will be able to relate with the Supra more. Both of the cars share a platform, powertrain, suspension components and interior bits like the multimedia system. With a cozy but comfortable fit, almost anyone can fit in the Supra, even taller drivers and passengers. Both driver and passenger enjoy 14-way power-adjustable seats with 4-way power lumbar support, with the driver’s seat getting a memory setting as well.
Touchscreen infotainment system: It features a 6.5-inch display, but a larger 8.8-inch display with navigation and Apple CarPlay capability is also available. Toyota’s touch screen infotainment is even easier to use than BMW’s iDrive, which is essentially what you get in the Premium trim.
