2021 BMW 3 and 5 series gets the plug-in hybrid system
BMW recently revealed its all-new M5 CS and since then it is in the news. BMW also claimed that it is the fastest production M car with 627 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque that received a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds. Apart from that BMW releases more models recently.
The company has planned to launch a new entry-level variant of the 3 and 5 Series Hybrid. The BMW is releasing its all-new 320e and 520e to increase the sale of all the electrified models by 50 percent for this year. The new entry-level plug-in hybrid models are available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.
Both variants generate 163 horsepower with an electric motor. If we combine the setup it produces 204 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque that is received by rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission. 320e Touring Wagon has also got the four-wheel-drive xDrive system.
BMW also claimed that the 320e set the record of 0-62 mph in 7.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 139 mph, on the other hand, the Touring variant got the same sprint of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 136 mph. BMW xDrive sets the record of 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds with a top speed of 136 mph.
If we talk about the bigger 520e Sedan then it has got 0-62 mph sprint time of 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 139 mph. While the Pure EV mode limits it to 86 mph. considering the electric driving ranges, the 320e Sedan is available with a 120 kWh battery that covers 32 to 37 miles on pure electric power.
31 to 36 miles range will be considered for the 320e Touring on a single charge. This number reduces to 28-35 miles for the xDrive Touring variant. BMW’s 520e Sedan has covered 32-37 miles with pure electric power and the Touring model covers 32-35 miles. The battery of both is expected to charge from 0-80 percent in 2.6 hours and 0-100 percent in 3.6 hours.
The all-new entry-level plug-in hybrids are featured with BMW Live Cockpit. It will go on sale in Germany in March. BMW has planned to increase the range of electrified models by 25. The arrival of the US is not declared yet.
